Issaquah School District’s secondary Science, ELA, and GLAD Specialists have collaborated on a summer PD opportunity for teachers who would like to dig into best-practices for putting course materials into an online platform.
Are you:
-
- wondering how to cultivate a sense of community in a remote setting?
- pondering ways to make online learning more engaging?
- contemplating how to make the student’s experience on Canvas more user-friendly?
“Reimagine Your Course Online” is a primarily asynchronous course for secondary teachers in ISD that begins in Canvas starting on July 24. This PD will not conflict with Canvas Camp offered by Ed Tech the last week of July since you may do this course on your own schedule and is for the most part self-paced. Participants will learn a variety of asynchronous instructional strategies and tools and have 3-4 optional synchronous sessions to model synchronous teaching strategies and to ask and answer questions. Participants will be paid for 10 hours from your tech hour allotment (which is 6 hours per diem, or if you have already used those, you will be paid at the in-service rate). All learning units will model researched-based, inclusive practices using Universal Design for Learning.
Our secondary content specialists look forward to supporting you as you move into the “remote unknown” AND getting feedback from you about what supports and resources you would find valuable. Space is limited to the first 40 registrants, but a wait-list is available and will be used to gauge interest.
You can find the course in True North Logic:
