Canvas Organization: Gradebook and Grading Periods

Organization in Canvas can seem daunting. Knowing what to add to course navigation, how to organize the modules (newest to oldest or vice versa), assignment groups, the gradebook and more. Here are some tips to help organize your gradebook and some suggestions with modules and assignments for yearlong courses.

Gradebook

The Canvas gradebook can be confusing, but there are a few ways to help with the overall organization. You can use the View option to organize your gradebook, but it does not always function how we expect. You can also manage the organization in Assignments. Here are some tips of organizing and navigating your Canvas gradebook.

Managing Grading Periods

Sort your gradebook view by the current grading period to help filter assignments.
When viewing your assignments, you can select the current grading period.
