One of the features of Canvas is the Help icon located on the Global Navigation. It might get overlooked, but here is why you and your students should be using it.
Teacher Help
The teacher Help offers quick access to the Canvas Guides, which can answer just about any question you may have about Canvas. We like to highlight ones in our posts here and if you find ones you love and want to share, please email me (olsons@issaquah.wednet.edu).
In addition to quick access to the Guides, we have also included access to the Canvas 101 course for Teachers; you might also see the one for students depending on your role(s) in Canvas.
This is also where teachers have access to Chat with Canvas Support, which is a great feature when they aren’t too busy. They will often be able to resolve issues right away. If you don’t have time to chat, this is where the Report a Problem is also located. If your Ed Tech Lead and Tech TOSA can’t figure it out, we might direct you here.
Finally, you can access the Training Services Portal of additional COVID-19 resources compiled by Canvas.

Student Help
Student Help will be slightly different than the Teacher Help (and Observer Help), but one thing you can showcase is the access to Canvas 101 for Students and Ask Your Instructor a Question.
We have curated resources to support students using Canvas that include adding their ISD email, assignment submission types, specific use of external tools, and viewing feedback.

When they choose “Ask Your Instructor a Question” they can quickly find their course and instructor to send a message.

For more on using Canvas click below. As always, for more support or questions please contact your Ed Tech Lead or Tech TOSA.
