Ignite is an ISD program created to help integrate and develop the use of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as effective practice and leverage the Digital Learning Experience training teachers received to support and develop teacher leaders within each school. Ignite will start with a two-day UDL summer institute, June 26 and 27 led by our TLS/Ed Tech team and will feature Matt Bergman from Novak Education.
We are seeking teachers from each school to participate in the Ignite program. Selected participants will form a cohort of educators. The cohort will continue their learning journey throughout the school year, including four release days, and will serve as lab classrooms for other teachers to observe UDL and technology integration in action.
Purpose of Ignite
- Support the next steps of Universal Design for Learning district-wide implementation (Strategic plan priority 2a)
- Grow teacher leaders and strengthen teacher leader/building administrator instructional partnerships focused on UDL
- Embed technology tools within UDL at the outset to leverage and continue modeling the Digital Learning Experience work (Executive Limitations 15 and district Technology Plan)
- Provide venues for teachers to see UDL in action through job-embedded professional development opportunities within ISD
- Continue to develop teacher use of technology to support learners with an inclusive and culturally responsive mindset
- Expand teacher understanding as they support Tier 2 strategies in the classroom (Strategic plan priority 2b)
Expectations and time commitment:
- Attend 2-day Ignite Summer Institute, June 26 and 27, 2025 (ISD Admin Building) – tech compensation provided out of 24/25 tech hours and clock hours available
- Attend 1-day Ignite Launch on August 18 (ISD Admin Building) – tech compensation provided out of 24/25 tech hours and clock hours available
- Participate in each of the four release days for cohort meetings during the 25/26 school year
- Collaborate with school team in leading school UDL professional development and implementation*
- Welcome others into their classroom for a Ignite Classroom Workshops and UDL Learning Walks
