Are Imported Assignments the bane of your Canvas existence? You can quickly delete the entire assignment group and move the assignments at the same time.
- Open Assignments
- Find the Imported Assignments group
- From the 3 dots, choose “Delete”

- Choose the group you want to move the assignments to and the Imported Assignments will be gone and your assignments will be where you need them in one swift move.

Note: This works best if you are moving all assignments to the same Assignment Group.

Every time I copy an assignment from one course to another course, I change it to “classwork.” Then I delete the imported assignment category as shown above. The problem that keeps happening to me is that “imported” still shows up in the gradebook and shows “0%”. How do I get “IMPORTED” out of the gradebook? I don’t want it there at all!
Hi Deb,
You are right, every time you move content from one course to another it will tag the assignments as “Imported Assignments,” which is a new assignment group. Your method of changing the name of the group should work if you change it to “Assignments.” If you do this often, you might end up with a lot of groups called “Assignments.” A lot of this depends on whether you are weighting your groups or not. For ease, moving them all to the pre-created Assignment group and deleting imported assignments should then remove it from your grade book and assignment groups. If it isn’t you might check in your Grades by “Filter” and find the assignment group that is still associated with “Imported Assignments” and then change those assignments to the correct assignment group.
