Canva AI Elements Better Than Ever

Canva Droptober showcased several exciting new releases and updates to some of their AI elements including Dream Lab (Magic Media), Magic Write, and the addition of some new ones like captions for videos, and AI summary for whiteboards.

Dream Lab

Dream Lab provides more extensive text-to-image creation and is only available to teachers. It is accessed from the home page left menu, not from elements within a design like magic media. It looks that each user receives 500 “credits” so use it when needed. Some great reasons might be to create visuals for a book or story being read in class to help increase student engagement with the content. Coming soon will be the ability to upload your own photo to be included in the generation.

Magic Write

Magic Write has also received an upgrade and now allows for more iterative text, the ability to preview as it writes, stop the process with one-click commands. Once you have the text the way that you like, you can insert it into the project for use or editing.

Captions

Add auto-generated captions to videos for more student engagement and to add accessibility for your learners. As with all things Canva, the captions can be designed to fit your content and style.

Directions per Canva:
To enable video captions in Canva, you’ll need to open your video design in the editor. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open your video design in the editor.
  2. Look for the Subtitles icon at the bottom right corner of the video.
  3. Click on it to turn on automatic captions.

Summary

Using Canva Whiteboards might still be a new experience for you, but the newest feature is the ability to request it to make a summary of all the whiteboard content. Select the content you want summarized so that it is outlined and then choose “Create Summary.”
